Twenty-One Months

Sydney has changed so much in the past 7 months. To think that she could not even sit up on her own when she came home at 14 months is incredible. She runs, climbs, and lives to have fun. She can now say almost anything, except to anyone outside of our family! The words are very articulate with the exception of "apple- sauce" which is "dub-dah". We have a few two-word sentences, but not many. My favorite is when Sydney says "Love You!" My heart melts everytime I hear it.
She loves playing with her teddy bears and baby doll. A friend gave her an adorable bedtime Pooh bear wearing a nightshirt and she spends a lot of time telling him "No-no Night-night!" She has a play kitchen and cooks plenty of meals and offers drinks regularly to her teddy bear family and us. The bears are always hungry, she makes them say "num-num" and does gulping noises while they eat.
Sleeping is still great, 9pm until 9am without any night waking and naps from 1:30 - 4:30pm. Mealtimes have become a source of independence, she refuses to have any help. She does great with only an occasional spill of "dub-dah" on her cheek. Sydney's appetite has slowed down and at times she isn't interested in a meal and would prefer more of a snack. Too many other things to do, I guess. Many times what is on our plates looks better than if it's on hers, so we do a lot of sharing! Pizza and loaded baked potatoes are Sydney's new favorites. Fajitas are still at the top of her list as well as anything with spice or marinade. She doesn't like plain chicken, etc.
Sydney has mastered the art of teasing recently. She loves to pretend to kiss her brothers, puckering up and right before the kiss she turns away and giggles uncontrollably. She is always giggling, such a happy kid.
On a sad note Sydney's big brothers have gone back to school. Both of us miss them and Sydney does a search for them every morning. They have already left for the day by the time she gets her sleepy head out of bed so she starts calling out their names and then hunts through the house in case they are playing hide and seek with her. She loves hide and seek and she also loves playing chase. She doesn't care if she is the one chasing or being chased, it's all fun to her.
