Happy Easter

We had a wonderful Easter. We celebrated with Lori’s Dad and Grandmother who drove from Maryland to spend the weekend with us. Sydney loves seeing her Pop-Pop and Mamaw. She gave them a lot of hugs and kisses and loved being tickled & fussed over. Nana and Pepe’ will be visiting us in April, we can’t wait to see them and hope they come soon! We always have a great time when family visits and miss them when they go.

This was a quiet month with only a few new words in Sydney’s vocabulary. “Up!” is a common word now, accompanied by her little arms in the air signaling it’s time for hugs. “Amen” after prayers (and she holds her hands together while praying), “cup” for a drink, “Meow” when you mention cats and “Mamaw” & “Pop-Pop” in honor of our visiting family members. She continues to use sign language for “more” and “table” and is happy to sign them if asked.

Sydney can point to her eyes, ears, nose, mouth and belly button upon request. Her favorite is the belly button, lifting her dress high above her shoulders so you can’t miss it. Unfortunately, she isn’t shy about showing her belly button, and it’s often pointed out and displayed in public. As a Father, I’m not fond of this one. She also is great with following simple directions (“Take this to Brandon”, “Bring the book to me”, etc.)

Sydney got her first play kitchen this month. She spends her time opening and shutting the doors and drawers and dumping out all of their contents. Our family room has taken on a new look, at times there are plastic dishes and plates covering most of the floor. Mamaw gave her a cloth baby doll that she carries around the house and one of her favorite adopted Aunts gave her a purple bunny that she adores.

Physically, Sydney walks very well and is now working on what appears to be either a headstand or a summersault. She has actually completed a summersault on her own, unassisted. She continues to be fond of reading, often reading on her own. Sometimes the book is upside down, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference.

Nighttimes continue to go well with 12 hours of sleep. Naps have been disrupted since the trip to the beach. She used to nap for at least 2 or 3 hours and now an hour is standard. It seems she discovered that no one else in her life naps at that time and she is missing out on the fun. We will continue trying to convince her that long naps are good.

At 17 months old and home with us for three months, Sydney fits perfectly into our family. Brandon and Ryan continue to be fantastic older brothers and Sydney loves them beyond measure, squealing with delight when they are around. Older brothers are a lot of fun!

Love and Easter Blessings to you
